The Tucano Urbano Winter 2010-2011 collection is undoubtedly the strongest to date, with the Steve Invernale jacket as one of our personal favourites.

The name suggests that this jacket is just the Steve jacket from their summer collection with a winter lining.  Don't be fooled; this jacket is so much more than that.

The outer shell is treated with a similar wax cotton canvas creating a vintage effect but, crucially, the jacket is fitted with a fully waterproof and breathable inner membrane lying beneath the outer layer.

As you would expect the jacket comes with removable CE approved shoulder and elbow armour.

The difference is not just in the spec though.  This jacket has to be seen to be fully appreciated (or purchased!).  It has a genuine presence and the comfort of a jacket many times more expensive than you'd expect from the £135.90 retail price.

I commute into London most days on a Ducati Monster S4RS with a 40 minute journey.  Given how keen I am to get my grubby mitts on one of these, we believe the Steve Invernale will appeal as much to motorcyclists as scooter riders.

Motorcycle & Scooter Child Seat now in stock

Introducing the motorcycle and scooter child seat.

The Stamatakis child safety seat for scooters and motorcycles is something of a revelation.  The products are designed and manufactured in Germany in accordance with EU regulations.  Children under 7 must have a special seat and be able to reach the footrests when riding pillion on a scooter or motorcycle.

Finding somewhere that sells such a product has never been easy. 

We tracked down the manufacturer and now have stock ready and waiting. 

There are two types of seat available:  The standard size (for most scooters) and the MAXI-scooter version for larger seats (including motorcycles).

The footrests are adjustable making the seat suitable for children from aged 3-8.

Davida 92 Helmet

PRE-ORDER FOR DELIVERY LATE JULY

The all new Davida 92 helmet has been rumored for a while and now we can confirm production with delivery late July. The pictures shown are the production sample. 

So why all the fuss?

Well, helmet nirvana for many customers is a helmet with a small shell similar to helmets of the 1970s that is both road legal and will protect their head. We've all tried on helmets and looked in the mirror only to see a member of the Jetsons family looking back at us, many people ride with illegal helmets just to have something that looks good. Modern safety standards have saved more lives but made such a helmet impossible to find... until now.

Davida has designed the 92 such that it qualifies for British Standard approval. The shell is made from kevlar resulting in a strong and light construction. The interior is nylon and can be removed and washed. Each helmet is detailed by hand in their Liverpool factory.

New Belstaff XL 500 Motorcycle Jacket

Eons have passed waiting for the Belstaff XL 500 motorcycle jacket to arrive. 

But then again, patience is a virtue because we've noticed that the jacket has had a couple of excellent stylistic tweats since we tried on a prototype nearly a year ago.

The jackets have been given a slightly weathered look which enhances the classic appeal of the garment.  They have also been fitted with Belstaff's removable Valtherm lining.  Although this jacket is still not quite a 12 month garment like the Belstaff Tourist Trophy Trialmaster, it is now highly suitable as a Spring, Summer and Autumn jacket.

Vitesse Motorcycle Boots

There is a growing trend in motorcycle clothing for fashion as well as function.  French company, Vitesse Moto are tackling the motorcycle boot.  Although there exist technical motorcycle boots that are suitable for use in the city from the likes of Tucano Urbano, they don't provide the level of protection in the event of a crash that can be found in Sidi or Alpinestars boots.

Scooter Season Begins!

It feels as though the long winter of 2009/10 has finally ended.  We have had the first few days of blue sky and glorious sunshine in London and predictably the number of customers looking for a used Vespa scooter has multiplied.

Sales of new scooters and motorcycles dropped by upto 23% in 2009 and demand for used vehicles has gone up.  This means prices of used Vespas will likely stabilise this year and customers may have to go further to find their scooter.
